Juvenile driver arrested after deadly crash involving stolen car in Chicago

A juvenile driver has been arrested after a deadly crash involving a stolen car on Chicago's West Side. According to police, the incident occurred on Friday evening when officers responded to a call about a person with a gun in the 900 block of South Independence Boulevard just before 5:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle described to them, which was identified as a stolen Hyundai. The vehicle fled from the scene and while traveling eastbound, ran two red lights near the 3800 West Roosevelt Road intersection. It then struck a Honda that was traveling southbound on Independence Boulevard. Three other vehicles that were stopped at the red light facing eastbound on Roosevelt Road were also hit as a result of the initial crash.
The Honda's driver, who was identified as a 25-year-old man, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he later died. A 28-year-old woman from another vehicle involved in the accident was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The juvenile driver of the stolen Hyundai was placed into custody and transported to Stroger Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Major Accident Investigation Unit is currently investigating this incident.
