Four Teenagers in Custody After Crashing Stolen Vehicle into Firetruck
Four teenagers are now in custody after crashing a stolen vehicle into a city firetruck on Monday afternoon, according to Columbus police. The incident happened at around 2:55 p.m. near East 11th Avenue and Clara Street.
The vehicle involved was identified as a Kia that was reported stolen from Hamilton Avenue and East 22nd Avenue. Four juveniles were apprehended at the scene and taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
Meanwhile, four firefighters were also taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center but are reportedly in stable condition, according to Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeffery Geiter.
Police officers who responded to the scene recovered four guns which they believe belonged to the suspects involved in the crash.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to release any further information about the incident as it remains under investigation.
