Kahului Male in Critical Condition After Crash in Waiehu

On Wednesday night, November 29th, a crash in Waiehu has left a Kahului male fighting for his life. The incident occurred on Waiehu Beach Road near Makaala Drive at approximately 6:20 p.m. The Maui Police Department responded to the scene and discovered that a white 2020 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck had collided with a moped.
According to preliminary investigation, the operator of the pickup truck, a 51-year-old Wailuku male, struck the moped rider from behind, causing him to be ejected off the vehicle. The moped rider, identified as a 56-year-old Kahului man, sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck remained uninjured.
The Maui Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into this incident.
