Driver of log truck killed in Pitt County crash

The driver of the log truck was killed in the accident.
A log truck driver was killed after his vehicle overturned on a highway in Pitt County, North Carolina this morning. The accident occurred at around 9:20 a.m. on Highway 30 near Satterwaite Road, north of Pactolus.
According to troopers who arrived at the scene, the log truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The driver of the truck was not wearing a seat belt and died as a result of injuries sustained during the accident.
"The Highway Patrol said the truck ran off the right side of the highway, and then overcorrected which caused it to overturn and collide with a ditch," reported an eyewitness.
The road had to be closed down while authorities investigated and cleared logs from off of it.
