Valley City man died from injuries sustained in the crash

North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a tragic accident that occurred in Lamoure County, North Dakota. According to the authorities, a Valley City man lost his life after a loose rock from a semi-truck's load went through his pickup truck's windshield.

The incident happened this morning around 8 am when the semi-truck with a belly dump trailer was heading northbound on State Highway 1 carrying rocks. At the same time, the victim was driving southbound towards the semi. As they approached each other, "the belly dump trailer unloaded rock onto the roadway," said NDHP.

Unfortunately, one of those rocks hit and killed the driver of the pickup truck. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported him to Oakes Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

NDHP officials stated that "the load of rock was not intended to be dumped onto the highway." The passenger who accompanied him survived without any injuries while Lyle Hanson, who drove the semi-truck involved in this fatal crash, remained unharmed.

An investigation is currently underway by NDHP regarding charges against Hanson following this tragedy.
