Highway closure expected to last for hours due to debris and fuel spill.

Both directions of Highway 18 in King County, Washington are currently blocked following a major crash at the Tiger Mountain Summit. The eastbound State Route 18 is closed at Issaquah-Hobart Road, while the westbound SR 18 is blocked at Interstate 90. Additionally, the eastbound I-90 off-ramp to SR 18 has been shut down.

The closure was first reported by Eastside Fire & Rescue via Twitter at approximately 7:46 a.m. on Thursday. According to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), three semi-trucks and two cars were involved in the collision.

Trooper Rick Johnson from the Washington State Patrol confirmed that one person sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Due to debris scattered across the road and an accompanying fuel spill, authorities anticipate that it will take several hours before normal traffic flow can be restored along this stretch of Highway 18.

As of 9 a.m., traffic congestion extended up to three miles in both directions from the accident site. WSDOT issued a news release advising motorists about lane reductions on westbound I-90 between Preston and Issaquah due to an ongoing construction project.

At present, there is no estimated time for when Highway 18 will reopen fully. Commuters are strongly advised either to avoid this area or prepare for significant delays if travel cannot be avoided altogether.
