Man Arrested in Connection to Fatal Three-Car Crash in Chandler that Killed Maurice Owens and Injured Chon Tran

Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault charges submitted against Jorrell Yazzie
A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal three-car crash that occurred in Chandler, Arizona. The accident took place on May 29th at around 1:30 am near Dobson and Ray Roads.
The driver of a 2014 Dodge Avenger, identified as Jorrell Yazzie, rear-ended a Chevrolet Camaro causing it to veer into the opposite lanes where it collided with a Toyota Camry. Maurice Owens, the driver of the Camaro suffered life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized in serious condition. Unfortunately, Chon Tran who was driving the Camry did not survive her critical injuries.
Chandler Police stated that "Jorrell Yazzie is suspected of impairment, and investigators believe speed was a factor in the initial accident." Yazzie sustained minor injuries from the collision but was later booked into jail with charges submitted against him for Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.
According to court documents obtained by authorities, Yazzie's blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .226 which is nearly three times over the legal limit.
