Man Arrested for OWI After Crashing into Truck in Lancaster

43-year-old man arrested for OWI second offense, causing injury
A 43-year-old man is facing charges of operating while intoxicated (OWI) after crashing into a truck while attempting to pass it in Lancaster early Friday morning. The incident occurred on Highway 81 near Highway 61 in the Township of South Lancaster, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
The authorities were alerted to a two-vehicle crash at around 6:40 a.m. on Friday. A 23-year-old man from Platteville was driving his work truck eastbound on Highway 81 when he slowed down to make a left turn. Behind him, the 43-year-old Lancaster resident was driving and decided to overtake the truck in the left lane, despite being in both a construction zone and no passing zone.
As the work truck began its left turn, it made contact with the front bumper of the Lancaster man's car, causing it to spin out and land in a ditch. Fortunately, no injuries were reported for the driver of the truck; however, both occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Law enforcement officers arrested the Lancaster man at the scene for operating while intoxicated as his second offense, resulting in injury. In addition to this charge, he also received citations for operating after revocation, operating without insurance or registration, and passing within a designated no passing zone.
