Man in Critical Condition After Mower Struck by Semi

A man is in critical condition after his mower was struck by a semi along Interstate 69 in DeKalb County, Indiana. The incident occurred on July 18, just before noon, approximately three miles north of Auburn.
According to state police, the crash involved a semi tractor-trailer colliding with a mowing tractor that had been contracted by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). The driver of the mower was immediately transported to a Fort Wayne hospital and as of Tuesday afternoon, he remained listed in critical condition.
Following standard procedure for crashes involving serious injuries or fatalities, the driver of the semi was taken to Parkview DeKalb Hospital for evaluation and also underwent a blood draw as required by state law.
As authorities investigated and cleared up the crash scene, the northbound lanes of I-69 at mile marker 332 were closed for nearly four hours. The ongoing investigation will be handed over to the DeKalb County Prosecutor's Office to determine if any criminal charges will be filed.
