Fatal crash in Orange: Miguel Angel Rodriguez III dies after being thrown from car

One person died and four others were injured.
A man has been charged with DUI and reckless driving after a fatal crash that occurred in Orange, Connecticut. The accident took place on Sunday just before 5 p.m. when the Orange Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision on Derby Avenue at Racebrook Road.
According to police reports, Jeremie Rodriguez of Bridgeport was driving a white 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on Derby Avenue when he disregarded the traffic control signal and collided with a silver 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling north on Racebrook Road. A passenger in the rear of the Honda Civic, Miguel Angel Rodriguez III of Willimantic, was hanging outside of the sunroof at the time of impact and sustained serious injuries. He later died from his injuries while being treated at a hospital.
Two other passengers who were inside the Honda Civic as well as both occupants of the Dodge Ram were also taken to hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
Jeremie Rodriguez was arrested and charged with several offenses including "driving under influence," "reckless driving," "violating traffic control signal," "riders on outside vehicle" and "misconduct with motor vehicle." His bond is set at $50,000, and he is due in court today.
