Man Hospitalized After Car Rolls and Catches Fire in Darke County Crash

A man was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon after his car rolled multiple times and burst into flames during a crash in Darke County. The incident occurred around 2:10 p.m. when authorities received reports of a single-car injury crash with the driver trapped inside their vehicle along the 5400 block of Gettysburg-Pitsburg Road.

According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, initial investigations revealed that Matthew Detling, a 21-year-old resident of Pitsburg, Ohio, was driving south on Gettysburg-Pitsburg Road in his 1999 Ford F-150 when he encountered a mechanical issue. This problem caused him to lose control of his truck.

Detling's truck veered off the right side of the road and careened into a yard before flipping several times and ultimately coming to rest on its side. Tragically, it then caught fire, intensifying an already dangerous situation.

Fortunately, there was a nearby individual working in a field who witnessed the accident unfold. Acting swiftly and bravely, this person managed to pull Detling out of his burning vehicle and bring him to safety before emergency services arrived at the scene.

The injured driver was subsequently transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment. At present, details regarding his condition remain unknown; however, efforts are underway by local authorities to ascertain more information about both Detling's well-being and further specifics surrounding the crash.
