Man known as Mac seriously injured after SUV rolls over him and into business in Englewood

Mac was taken to the hospital for treatment. No one else was injured.
A 61-year-old man was seriously injured in a freak accident on Thursday afternoon when his SUV rolled over him and crashed into a business in Englewood, New Jersey. The incident occurred on Chester Place, where the man, known in the community as Mac, was removing heavy equipment from the back of his Ford Explorer.
According to witnesses, the vehicle began to roll backward down a steep incline, and one of the men associated with the car came running down screaming that the brakes had failed. As the SUV picked up momentum, it crashed into ESU Importers on Grand Avenue, causing the whole wall to break down.
"I thought it was an earthquake," said ESU employee Danny Yi. "At the moment I froze I didn't know what to do."
When police arrived at the scene, they found Mac with serious injuries to his pelvis, legs, and back after his Ford Explorer crushed him. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
"My heart is with him, you know I hope he gets better," said one resident. "Always I hope because he's a tremendous person."
No one else was injured in the accident. Witnesses reported that they saw the crash before they heard it.
"You couldn't hear it," said witness Alex Navarret. "But you saw it. You saw it first and then heard the crash."
The Englewood Police Department is investigating the incident.
