Man Killed in San Diego Trash Truck Accident

A tragic incident occurred in downtown San Diego early Tuesday morning when a man was run over by a trash truck and killed. The fatal collision took place at approximately 5:20 a.m. near the intersection of Sixth Ave and C Street, just yards away from the Fifth Avenue trolley station.
According to the San Diego Police, the victim "crawled from the west sidewalk of 1000 6th Avenue into the roadway" before being struck by a southbound trash truck on the same street. Sadly, despite emergency responders' efforts, the man, estimated to be between 30-40 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the private trash truck involved in this tragedy is reported to be a 59-year-old man. It is unclear at this time whether any charges will be filed against him as investigations are still ongoing.
Due to this devastating incident, southbound Sixth Avenue had to be closed off at B Street for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared up debris from the accident site.
This unfortunate event serves as a reminder for pedestrians and drivers alike to exercise caution on busy city streets. Authorities urge everyone to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings in order to prevent such accidents from occurring in future.
