Police are still investigating to determine if the man was killed by a gunshot wound or the crash.

The Richmond Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting and crash that occurred in south Richmond on Wednesday morning. The incident took place at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Halifax Avenue, where a man was shot and killed.

According to reports, officers were called to the scene at around 6:30 a.m. on May 3, after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found what appeared to be a crash involving a cement truck. This is the second incident involving a cement truck and the Richmond Police Department in the last 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the department stated that the man was shot, which caused him to crash his vehicle into a cement truck traveling in the opposite direction. It is still unclear whether the man died from the gunshot wound or the crash. The driver of the cement truck was uninjured.

Richmond Highway was closed in both directions from Harwood Street to Gordon Avenue but has since reopened. Sources have informed Accident.NEWS that investigators are treating the death as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
