Mansfield Woman Dies in Two-Car Crash on I-495 in Foxborough

One fatality, both drivers injured
A tragic car accident on Tuesday in Foxborough, Massachusetts has resulted in the death of a young woman from Mansfield. The incident occurred on Interstate 495 and involved two vehicles.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, the crash took place at approximately 5:15 p.m. Troopers were dispatched to I-495 southbound at mile marker 33.8 in response to the collision. The vehicles involved were identified as a 2018 Ford Escape driven by a 24-year-old woman from Mansfield and a 2012 Hyundai Tucson driven by a 30-year-old man from North Easton.
Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Tragically, the young woman from Mansfield succumbed to her injuries and passed away while receiving medical care.
Following the crash, one of the vehicles caught fire, prompting swift action from firefighters belonging to both Foxborough and Plainville Fire Departments who managed to extinguish it successfully. Additionally, MassDOT conducted an inspection of an overpass near the scene of the accident for any potential damage caused by the vehicle fire.
The cause of this devastating crash is currently under investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies including State Police-Foxboro Barracks, Troop H Detective Unit, State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSS), Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), and State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.
As a result of this tragic incident, all lanes on I-495 southbound had been temporarily closed but have since reopened after necessary investigations were completed.
