Harvey Shelton Injured in Car Crash Gets Special Graduation Ceremony

A High School in Maumelle, Arkansas held a special ceremony for one of its students who missed his graduation due to a car accident. Harvey Shelton was on his way to the ceremony when he got into an accident that left him stuck in the car for an hour before first responders could get him out.

Shelton said, "The whole front was caved in on my legs. I really couldn’t feel my legs at all." However, despite being trapped and injured, he miraculously escaped with just a big gash on his leg and 40 stitches.

His parents were at the graduation when they found out about the crash and rushed to the hospital praying their son was alive. His stepmother Mauzie Shelton said she was relieved when doctors told her there were no broken bones.

The day after missing his graduation, Maumelle High School organized a special ceremony for Harvey Shelton and his friend who had left graduation to be by his side. The school community came together to celebrate this milestone with him.

"I’ll just say people need to keep God in their life because if I didn’t I wouldn’t be here today," said Shelton. He plans to enlist in the National Guard and then attend South Arkansas University for computer science.

Despite missing out on walking across stage with his classmates initially, Harvey's determination has allowed him another opportunity which will forever remain memorable not only for himself but also those around him who supported him during this time of adversity.
