A Michigan man was killed in a rear-end collision involving two semi tractor-trailers on Interstate 69. The accident took place on Saturday afternoon, near the 250-mile marker of I-69, about five miles north of the Ind. 28 interchange.

Darrell Charles Kositzke, aged 65 and from Bellevue, was driving a Freightliner semi when he crashed into another tractor-trailer that had stopped due to construction-related traffic backup. According to Indiana State Police, Kositzke was "entrapped in the wreckage, unconscious and unresponsive" when they reached the scene.

Kositzke was pronounced dead at the scene by Delaware County Coroner Gavin Greene due to blunt force trauma. It is believed that he may have been distracted at the time of the crash.

The driver of the other semi involved in this accident - Clyde Scott Jackson (58) - suffered minor injuries and received treatment at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Emergency responders who arrived at the scene included Gaston and Alexandria firefighters, Delaware County sheriff's deputies, Gaston EMS and Delaware County Emergency Management Agency along with state troopers.
