One Person in Critical Condition After Minivan Collides with Semi-Truck in Tooele County
A minivan collided with a semi-truck and got pinned beneath its trailer, leaving one person in critical condition on Thursday morning. The crash happened on State Road 179 in Tooele County when the semi-truck was taking a left turn from Parachute Lane onto SR-179 and the minivan crashed into its trailer head-on.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden confirmed that the driver of the truck is okay but the driver of the van is being airlifted to a hospital for treatment and is currently listed as critical. The identity, including name, age, and gender of the driver has not been released to the public yet.
As per Utah Department of Transportation reports, SR-179 has been closed down in both directions at milepost 3 near I-80 due to this accident. UHP estimated that it will take "three to four" hours before they can reopen it again which means around noon on Thursday.
