The man and woman on the boat were taken to Baystate Medical Center for serious injuries.

Police have found the body of a missing jet skier in the Connecticut River. The man has been identified as 51-year-old Carlos Lopez of Springfield. He had been missing since Sunday following a crash between his jet ski and a boat at around 7pm that evening. The accident occurred in the Connecticut River in Easthampton.

The search for Lopez involved officials from numerous police departments, including Massachusetts Environmental Police and local public safety agencies, who searched the river from Sunday through Tuesday. On Tuesday afternoon, police located his body just a short distance away from where the accident took place.

According to State Police Spokesperson Dave Procopio: “Personnel and equipment from a number of local fire and police departments… both Hampshire and Hampden County Sheriff’s departments, and state police all participated in the third day of the search.”

Lopez was reportedly wearing a life jacket at the time of the crash but still lost his life due to injuries sustained during it. Meanwhile, those on board the boat were taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.

Easthampton Police have closed down Route 5 boat ramp while they investigate what caused this tragic incident.
