Monroe man dies in single-vehicle crash in Brodhead

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a report by the Green County Sheriff's Office, a Monroe man died in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday night. The accident occurred after the car he was driving failed to stop at an intersection and drove into a ditch before overturning.
The incident took place at around 11 p.m., when Brodhead Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the scene of the accident at State Highway 11/81 and County Highway GG. Upon investigation, officials determined that "the car was driving westbound on State Highway 81 when it didn’t stop at a stop sign and kept going onto County Highway GG."
The vehicle eventually went off-road into a ditch, hit gravel, overturned and came to rest after hitting a cement pillar. Despite wearing his seatbelt during the crash, airbags did not deploy for the driver who was pronounced dead on-site.
