63-year-old driver taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
A 63-year-old man from Monticello was hospitalized after his vehicle rolled over when it was rear-ended in Marion on Friday morning. The incident occurred at Highway 13 and Secrist Road. The Linn County Sheriff's Office reported that they found a blue Chevy Malibu overturned in the median and another car with front-end damage on the shoulder of southbound lanes of Highway 13.
After an investigation, deputies discovered that a 26-year-old Cedar Rapids man driving a red Pontiac Grand Prix had hit the Malibu from behind, causing its driver to lose control. Although he suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the Malibu driver was taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Grand Prix has been cited for "Failure to Stop at a Safe and Assured Distance."
