Mother and child died, other driver airlifted, teenage passenger suffered minor injuries
A tragic accident in Moore County has claimed the lives of a mother and her 4-year-old child. According to a state trooper, the incident occurred on N.C. Highway 690 at Lobelia Road and Morrison Bridge Road.
The authorities received a distress call at approximately 9:28 p.m., alerting them to the deadly crash. Two cars were involved in the collision, which resulted in four individuals being affected by the tragedy.
Reportedly, the mother and her young son were traveling westbound when their vehicle veered across the center line and collided head-on with another car. Tragically, the 4-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. His mother was swiftly airlifted to a nearby hospital but sadly passed away later.
The driver of the second car also required an airlift from emergency responders present at the scene. Additionally, a teenage passenger who was traveling with them sustained minor injuries during this devastating incident.
As investigators work diligently to determine what led to this fatal crash, they continue their ongoing investigation into its cause.
