Hamilton man Tyler Ford killed in New Jersey Turnpike motorcycle accident

Fatal injuries sustained by Tyler Ford
New Jersey State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on Saturday night on the New Jersey Turnpike. The accident involved a four-car pile-up and resulted in the death of a 29-year-old Hamilton man who was riding his motorcycle.
The accident took place at around 10:17 p.m. on the southbound side of the turnpike's outer roadway at milepost 78.8, according to State Police spokesperson Sgt. Philip Curry.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling south when its driver attempted to avoid debris in the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a single-car collision that disabled it partially in the left lane and shoulder.
The disabled Mitsubishi was then hit by a Toyota which also became partially disabled in both center and left lanes before being struck by two BMWs. Tyler Ford, who was operating a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle directly behind one of the BMWs, collided with both vehicles after failing to stop in time.
Ford sustained fatal injuries during this sequence of collisions while no additional injuries were reported on scene, said Curry.
Following this incident, traffic congestion remained minimal as only two lanes were closed for approximately three hours while authorities conducted their investigations into what caused this tragic event to occur.
