Motorcycle Accident in Penn Township, Lancaster County: 48-year-old Man Injured

A motorcycle accident in Penn Township, Lancaster County on Sunday evening has left one person injured. According to the Northern Lancaster County Regional Police, the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lititz Road and Fruitville Pike.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a 48-year-old man from East Petersburg who was operating the motorcycle with life-threatening injuries. He was immediately airlifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. It was noted that he was not wearing a helmet during the time of the crash and was the sole occupant on the motorcycle.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed that a 30-year-old woman from Hummelstown, driving a 2017 Subaru Impreza, was traveling west on Lititz Road behind a pickup truck. As they approached Fruitville Pike intersection, the pickup truck came to a stop and turned right onto Fruitville Pike from Lititz Road.
Unfortunately, it seems that while attempting to cross the intersection and continue driving west on Lititz Road, the woman failed to notice or see the motorcyclist approaching from southbound on Fruitville Pike. Consequently, she entered into his path resulting in an unavoidable collision.
The police department's reconstruction team along with NE Lancaster County Crash Unit will be collaborating with assistance from Lancaster County District Attorney's Office for conducting final crash analysis and determining any associated outcomes related to this incident.
