Motorcycle driver killed in crash with pickup truck in Holly

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on scene. The 66-year-old man from Novi driving the pickup was not hurt, according to authorities.
Michigan State Police have reported a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a pick-up truck in Holly Township on Monday morning. The incident occurred around 9:50 am near the intersection of Holly and Belford roads. According to an ongoing police investigation, the driver of a 2002 Honda motorcycle was heading northbound on Holly Road towards the intersection with Belford Road when a southbound 2002 Chevy pickup truck made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.
The motorcyclist, identified as a 53-year-old man from Burton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, who is said to be a 66-year-old man from Novi, did not sustain any injuries during the accident. It has been confirmed that the motorcyclist was not wearing any protective headgear at that time.
In light of this tragic event, First Lt. Mike Shaw of Michigan State Police urged drivers to exercise caution while driving especially since summer is just around the corner."It is important with summer right around the corner that we look twice for motorcycles,” he said in his statement.“We all need to share road together and make sure we remain alert.”
The identities of both drivers involved in this accident were not immediately released by authorities. More information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
