Motorcyclist in critical condition, box truck driver cited
A motorcyclist is currently in critical condition while a truck driver has been cited following a crash that occurred on Wednesday morning in southeast Lincoln.
The incident took place at the intersection of 58th Street and Old Cheney Road at approximately 9 a.m., prompting an immediate response from both the Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire & Rescue departments.
According to authorities, the collision transpired when the driver of a box truck traveling on Old Cheney failed to yield while making a turn onto 58th Street, resulting in a direct impact with the motorcycle.
Emergency services swiftly arrived at the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital where they are now listed as being in critical condition. Meanwhile, fortunately, no injuries were reported for the box truck driver who was subsequently cited for failure to yield before being released.
Due to this unfortunate incident, traffic flow was disrupted for over two hours as officials worked diligently to clear up debris from the crash site.
