A tragic accident on Saturday evening claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Interstate 84 in Weber Canyon. The crash resulted in several hours of traffic congestion as authorities worked to investigate and clear the scene.
According to Trooper Quincey Breuer from the Utah Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. when a motorcycle and a Porsche were traveling eastbound on I-84 near mile marker 92. It appears that the motorcycle failed to stay within its lane while navigating a curve, leading to a collision with the Porsche.
The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from their bike, resulting in fatal injuries. The identity of the rider has not been released at this time.
In response to the crash, both directions of Interstate 84 had to be temporarily closed for safety reasons. Traffic quickly backed up, causing significant delays for motorists passing through the area. However, by approximately 9 p.m., vehicles began slowly moving again as shown by footage captured by a Utah Department of Transportation traffic camera.
