A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 West is causing backups near downtown Richmond. Traffic is currently backed up nearly to Mechanicsville Turnpike. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes and expect delays.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 West near downtown Richmond is causing significant backups. The incident occurred near mile marker 191, just before the I-95/I-64 interchange. As a result, the westbound left lane has been closed.
Traffic congestion extended nearly to Mechanicsville Turnpike, prompting VDOT to advise drivers to seek alternate routes and anticipate delays in their commute. VDOT has since announced that all lanes have reopened and the scene is now clear.
