Five Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving 18-Wheeler in Pelham, Alabama

Five people suffered minor injuries. One person was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement, all lanes of I-65 are now open after a multi-vehicle crash caused traffic to come to a standstill for hours on Thursday. The crash occurred just before 12:21 p.m., in the far left lane of I-65. The accident involved an 18-wheeler carrying watermelons that overturned and caught fire before noon. Two northbound lanes of the interstate were reopened along with the right shoulder following the incident.
Pelham police reported that the driver of the 18-wheeler blew a tire, causing it to collide with the median barrier. As two other motorists attempted to avoid crashing into it, they collided in a secondary crash.
Five people suffered minor injuries as a result of this accident, with one person being taken to hospital due to undisclosed injuries. Alabama State Troopers are investigating this incident while Pelham and Hoover police provide assistance in managing traffic control.
