Original Story: A multi-vehicle crash that occurred early on Monday morning has led to the closure of a section of the Blue Route in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. According to reports, the accident happened at around 4:50 am in the northbound lanes of I-476 near Old Gulph Road and involved at least three vehicles.
At the scene, there was a toppled U-Haul trailer and van, a jackknifed truck, and another vehicle with severe damage. Debris could be seen scattered all over the roadway.
Authorities have confirmed that three people were injured in the collision. All three victims were taken to Lankenau Medical Center for treatment of various injuries; however, no specifics regarding their condition have been released.
As a result of this incident, northbound lanes between Villanova and Schuylkill Expressway are closed off. Drivers are being detoured off at Route 30 (St. Davids/Villanova) while they work on clearing up debris from the road.
Motorists should expect delays when traveling through this area until further notice as authorities continue their investigation into what caused this unfortunate event.
