Multiple Accidents Injure Four in Beatrice, Nebraska

Two separate highway accidents occurred in southeast Nebraska on Thursday, injuring at least four people. The first collision took place near U.S. Highway 77 and Oak Road, approximately five miles south of Beatrice. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene at 12:19 p.m.

Shortly after, another accident occurred about a mile south on U.S. 77 near Osage Road when a pickup truck struck the back of a semitrailer truck. As a result of these collisions, the highway remained blocked until mid-afternoon. Northbound and southbound traffic was diverted onto gravel roads located one mile east and west of Highway 77.

Multiple agencies responded to both incidents including Gage County Sheriff's Deputies, the Nebraska State Patrol, Beatrice Rural Fire, City of Beatrice ambulance units, Wymore Fire and Rescue, and Blue Springs Fire.

A captain from the Beatrice Fire Department reported that one person involved in the two-car accident was airlifted by medical helicopter to Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln. Two others were transported by ground ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital.

In regards to the second accident near U.S. 77 and Osage Road involving a pickup truck, an officer from the Nebraska State Patrol stated that the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Initial reports indicated that none of the injuries sustained were life-threatening. At this time, neither the cause of either accident nor information regarding those involved has been released.
