Multiple Fatalities Reported After High-Speed Chase Ends in Tragic Crash
Early Sunday morning, a high-speed chase that began in Blacksburg, South Carolina ended tragically when the suspects' truck crashed into a house on Suttle Street in Shelby. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, dispatch received a call around 12:55 a.m. reporting that "a white pickup truck was following their Dodge Charger and shooting at the car" near Bridges Road.
The chase continued into North Carolina and was transferred to Cleveland County dispatch center at approximately 1:07 a.m. Deputies from Cleveland County attempted to stop the suspects on Earl Road at Highway 74 but were unsuccessful as they ran through red lights before turning onto Dekalb Street with their lights off.
Deputies lost sight of the truck momentarily before finding it had crashed into a home where six males were inside; five between ages 15-20 and one whose age is unknown but believed to be within that range. Three of them have died while three others were taken to hospital for treatment, with one being released shortly after.
No injuries were reported among those who were being chased by the suspects during this incident.
Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Norman praised all involved agencies for working together tirelessly throughout this investigation.
