Three people in serious to critical condition, others declined medical transportation
At least three people were critically injured in a crash involving two vehicles near a Metro bus stop in Vermont Square on Wednesday night. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, authorities responded to the collision near the 450 block of 51st Street around 7:05 p.m.
The incident occurred when a pedestrian using a crosswalk was struck by one of the vehicles, causing them to be pushed under a nearby bus. LAPD reported that three individuals were transported to local hospitals in serious to critical condition. Fortunately, four others involved in the crash declined medical transportation.
Details surrounding the accident are currently limited, and it remains unclear what initially caused the vehicles to collide. The investigation into determining the cause is ongoing.
It is worth noting that there were no passengers on board the bus at the time of impact, and thankfully, the bus driver escaped uninjured.
