One Person Ejected in Multiple Vehicle Accident on Highway 2 in Syracuse

Emergency Crews Respond to Accident on Highway 2
On Saturday evening, emergency crews from Syracuse and Nebraska City responded to an accident on Highway 2 near County Road 32. According to radio traffic, multiple vehicles were involved in the accident with one person ejected and several injuries reported.
One patient was airlifted by medical helicopter from Syracuse Area Health for treatment. The accident caused a delay in highway traffic as reconstruction efforts took place.
Westbound lanes were reopened at around 9:30 p.m., but there was another incident when a semi-trailer backed up over a stopped motorcycle near the scene of the initial accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incidental collision, but it did cause further delays for motorists.
Authorities have not released any information about what may have caused the initial accident or if any charges will be filed. We will continue to monitor this story for updates as they become available.
