Multiple Vehicle Accident in Orland Park Sends Several to Hospital

Several injuries, no fatalities reported
Orland Fire Protection District and the Tinley Park Fire Department responded to a multiple vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of 159th and 80th Avenue in Orland Park, IL. The accident was caused by two vehicles traveling at high speeds, colliding with other vehicles resulting in a 4 car pile-up. One of the vehicles involved in the accident fled the scene.
Orland Fire Chief Michael Schofield reported that the accident resulted in injuries and severe damage to multiple vehicles. "Four ambulances were needed with 5 victims transported to local hospitals in stable condition," said Schofield. "Another victim was transported to the trauma center at Christ Hospital, no update on the patient's condition was available at the time of reporting."
The accident caused a major traffic jam in the area, and by 6pm, the Orland Fire Protection District personnel turned over the scene to the Orland Police for further investigation.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Accident.NEWS will provide updates as more information becomes available.
