Motorcyclist and 4 Others Injured in Multiple Vehicle Crash on I-44 in Sarcoxie

4 people transported to hospitals with serious injuries
On Sunday, June 25, 2023 at around 9:15 a.m., the Jasper County E-911 received reports of a motorcyclist laying in the roadway on I-44 west, just east of the Hwy 37 Sarcoxie exit 26. Minutes later, there were also reports of a two-vehicle crash near that same location.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators, it appears that there were two separate crashes - one involving a motorcycle and another between two vehicles. Upon observation of the vehicles involved in the incident(s), it seems to be a rear-end collision.
The crash caused traffic to back up about three miles westbound but was released at around 10:15 a.m. for all lanes to be opened. Four people were transported to hospitals with some serious injuries.
Authorities are still investigating both incidents and updates will follow as they become available.
