Two people were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay.

Traffic on I-55 has come to a standstill near the Commerce Street exit in Hernando due to a multi-vehicle crash that occurred around noon on Friday. The accident involved multiple 18-wheelers as well as several other vehicles, resulting in the closure of I-55 from Coldwater to Pleasant Hill exits.

According to authorities, eight cars were involved in the collision and two people were taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, both individuals are expected to make full recoveries.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by local law enforcement officials. Motorists are advised to avoid this area until further notice and seek alternative routes if possible.
