Neosho Man Rodger Alexander Dies in 10 Car Crash in Mount Vernon, Missouri

One person died and others suffered minor to moderate injuries.
A fatal 10-car crash occurred on Friday evening in Mount Vernon, Missouri. The incident took place at the westbound lanes of I-44 near mile-marker 43. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's report, a semi-truck crashed into stopped traffic causing a chain reaction involving nine other vehicles.
The first vehicle hit by the semi was a BMW 5501 which then collided with another semi-truck. The semi continued driving and struck a Toyota RAV4 that subsequently hit a Honda Civic. The same truck then crashed into a Kia Sorrento which collided with a Toyota Prius before hitting yet another car - this time it was Chrysler Town and Country van that got hit, leading to its collision with GMC Sierra followed by Chrysler 300.
Unfortunately, one person died as result of the accident - Rodger Alexander from Neosho who was driving the BMW at the time of impact. Other drivers involved suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to hospitals in Joplin and Springfield for treatment.
All individuals involved in the crash had their seatbelts on during impact. Those affected came from various locations including Springfield, De Soto, Neosho (all MO), New Mexico, Georgia, Kansas and Illinois.
This marks MSHP Troop D’s thirty-fifth fatal crash so far this year according to reports.
