Richard Maurice Dead After Car Collides with Tractor-Trailer in Avon

A man has died following a collision between a car and a tractor-trailer in Avon, Massachusetts early Saturday morning. The crash occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Route 24, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Authorities report that a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound when it rear-ended a tractor-trailer, causing the car to veer off the road into the median and catch fire. The tractor-trailer hit the guardrail.
The driver of the Toyota Camry has been identified as 30-year-old Richard Maurice of Randolph, Massachusetts. Police say he was treated with life-saving measures on the scene before being transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 44-year-old man from New Bedford, sustained minor injuries and was also transported to the hospital.
Roads near the crash were closed for over three hours but have since reopened. The crash is under investigation.
