One dead in car crash in Fresno County

One person died at the scene. Four people in the Dodge Charger had injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center.
One person has died following a car crash that occurred early Wednesday morning on Highway 180 west of Bethel Avenue, just north of Sanger. The incident involved two cars traveling eastbound when a Dodge Charger rear-ended a Honda Odyssey.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Odyssey skidded off the highway and struck a tree before bursting into flames. Sadly, one person in that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four people who were in the Dodge Charger sustained injuries and were taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officers believe speeding may have been a factor in the crash.
As per CHP reports, Highway 180 is closed eastbound between Indianola and Bethel. Early morning commuters along this route are advised to use an alternate route until further notice.
The identity of those involved has not yet been released by authorities. Further investigation into this tragic accident is ongoing.
