One person died and nearly one dozen people were injured
WOODLAND, Calif. (Accident.NEWS) — A 13-year-old boy driving a stolen car caused a fiery crash that killed one person and injured nearly a dozen others in Northern California, according to authorities.
The incident occurred on Saturday in Woodland, northwest of Sacramento, when an officer attempted to pull over the car and it sped away erratically. The pursuit ended when the car collided with two other cars at an intersection, causing at least two of the vehicles involved to catch fire.
Woodland Police Department released a statement saying, "One person died and nearly one dozen people were injured." The extent of the injuries is not yet known.
The 13-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of two felonies, vehicular manslaughter with negligence and evading an officer causing injury. After receiving medical treatment, the teen was expected to be booked at Yolo County Juvenile Hall.
The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. Woodland Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
