One Person Critically Injured in Crash on Interstate 88 in DuPAGE COUNTY

One person critically injured, another person in stable condition
A serious crash occurred on Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 88 in the western suburbs, leaving one person critically injured. According to Illinois State Police, the incident took place around 2:30 p.m. when a pickup truck collided with a semitrailer near York Road in DuPage County.
Preliminary information suggests that the pickup truck rear-ended the semitrailer, resulting in both vehicles catching fire. The Oak Brook Fire Department reported that the driver of the pickup truck was rushed to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and is currently listed as being in critical condition.
In addition to this, another individual involved in the crash was transported to Elmhurst Hospital and is said to be stable at this time. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained by the semitrailer driver.
As a result of this devastating accident and subsequent fire debris, traffic lanes had to be temporarily closed down for safety reasons. Motorists traveling through that area experienced slow-moving traffic along the left shoulder and were advised to consider alternative routes if possible.
This incident serves as yet another reminder of how crucial it is for drivers to remain vigilant while on our roadways. Authorities are continuing their investigation into what caused this collision on Interstate 88.
