Dandre James Dies in Single Vehicle Crash in Union Grove

One fatality
According to the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, one person has died after a single vehicle crash in Union Grove on U.S. Route 30 near Hillsdale Road. The accident occurred early Sunday morning around 2:30am.
The initial investigation by the sheriff's office revealed that a UHaul was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 30 when it left the roadway, went into a ditch, and struck a tree. Sadly, the only occupant of the vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Dandre James of Sterling, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multiple agencies responded to the accident which caused traffic delays in the area for several hours.
No further information has been released at this time and authorities are continuing their investigation into what may have caused this tragic incident.
