A stretch of I-71 in Medina County, Ohio reopened on Friday morning after an overnight crash involving two semi-trucks blocked all northbound lanes. The incident occurred just after 2 a.m., not far from the location of an earlier semi-truck fire.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened near US 224, before State Route 18. As a result of the collision, all northbound lanes were closed for several hours. Two individuals sustained injuries in the accident. One person was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other individual's injuries were minor.
Although I-71 was eventually reopened at around 6:30 a.m., some lanes remained blocked during the morning commute due to crews working to clean up an unrelated semi-truck fire.
The authorities have not provided further details regarding the cause of either incident or any potential charges that may be filed as a result. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow any detour instructions given by law enforcement personnel when encountering such incidents on highways.
