An overturned 18-wheeler caused significant traffic delays for drivers in Houston on Friday morning. The incident occurred on the I-610 North Loop westbound at the I-45 North Freeway, as reported by Houston Transtar at 5:10 a.m.
It appeared that the 18-wheeler had lost its load of windows which left broken glass across the roadway. Both the right lane and exit ramp were closed for several hours while crews worked to upright the truck and clear up the mess.
According to Houston Transtar, normal traffic flow was restored at 11:52 a.m., nearly seven hours after the initial crash. However, during peak congestion times, backups stretched over five miles along this route.
The cause of the accident remains unclear at this time, and it is unknown whether any injuries were sustained as a result.
