Overturned tractor trailer causes traffic delays in Freehold Township

Traffic delays expected throughout the evening commute
An overturned tractor-trailer caused traffic delays in Freehold Township during the evening commute. The accident occurred at the Route 33 bypass and Route 537 (West Main Street) intersection, where police responded to a fuel spill from an overturned vehicle around 1:15 p.m.
The eastbound lanes of Route 33 were shut down due to the accident on the eastbound on-ramp of Route 537. However, westbound lanes remained open throughout the incident.
Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported for the unnamed driver of the truck involved in this accident. Police Lieutenant Joe Winowski confirmed that "investigations continue" and that information regarding what was being hauled by the truck is not yet available.
A hazmat crew arrived at the scene to manage any potential hazards resulting from fuel spills or other materials carried by the truck.
Lt. Winowski warned drivers about possible delays during their evening commutes as he expects traffic disruptions to continue throughout rush hour.
