Three Dead in Harrisburg Bus Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday night in Pennsylvania when a passenger bus carrying up to 50 people crashed and collided with another vehicle, resulting in the deaths of three bus passengers. The incident took place during heavy rain around 11:50 p.m. on southbound Interstate 81 just north of Harrisburg.

According to state police, the bus veered off the roadway, struck an embankment, and rolled onto its right side before hitting the back of a car that was stopped in the right lane of traffic. A crash report revealed that three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene while others sustained injuries ranging from minor to severe.

Passengers recount hearing a terrible screeching sound and feeling intense shaking before the bus flipped onto its side. The impact threw people from their seats, causing some to be piled on top of one another.

Among those injured in this tragedy were one critically wounded adult and one adult along with one child listed in serious condition at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center according to spokesperson Barbara Schindo's statement. The hospital treated a total of 28 patients, ranging in age from 1 to 69, including five individuals under the age of 18. Additional patients may have been transported to another medical facility.

The incident was described as a "mass casualty incident" due to the high number of people involved and the extent of their injuries. Eight ambulances and lifeline emergency response services were deployed to provide assistance.

As of now, information regarding the identities of the bus owner and driver has not been disclosed. Trooper Frazer mentioned that further details about the accident might not be released until Tuesday morning.
