At 9:24 a.m., both Douglas and Palmyra Fire and Rescue teams were called to respond to a pedestrian accident south of Highway 2 on County Road 4. According to reports from the Otoe County Sheriff's Office, this tragic incident resulted in the fatality of an individual.

Preliminary investigations suggest that while disconnecting a trailer from a grain truck, an unidentified man was attempting to remove a "wide load" sign from the front of the vehicle. Tragically, as he did so athe driver of the truck attempted to move forward and in so doing, ran over the man that was removing the sign - details remain unclear - but the injuries suffered proved to be fatal.

Authorities are actively investigating this incidents but have not released further information at this time. Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this tragic accident as they cope with their losses during this difficult time.
