Pedestrian gravely injured after being hit by pickup truck in Mira Mesa

Pedestrian taken to hospital for treatment of extensive trauma, including a serious brain injury and fractures to her skull, ribs and pelvis. She is not expected to survive her injuries.
A pedestrian was gravely injured after being hit by a pickup truck in a Mira Mesa intersection on Wednesday morning. The San Diego Police Department reported that the incident occurred at around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Camino Ruiz and Westmore Road. The victim, an unidentified woman believed to be in her 60s, was crossing the street in a crosswalk when a 2015 Toyota Tacoma struck her.
The woman suffered extensive trauma, including a serious brain injury and fractures to her skull, ribs, and pelvis. "She is not expected to survive her injuries," said SDPD Officer Sarah Foster. Paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police stated that intoxication was not believed to have played a role in the accident. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
