Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash Involving Folly Beach Police Cruiser

Pedestrian taken to an area hospital with serious injuries
Charleston Police have confirmed that all lanes of the Septima Clark Parkway in South Carolina were reopened by mid-morning following a crash involving a Folly Beach Police cruiser and a pedestrian. The incident occurred at 5:01 am on U.S. 17 at President Street, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Nick Pye.
The vehicle involved was identified as a 2018 Ford sedan registered to the Folly Beach Police Department. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) took the pedestrian to an area hospital with serious injuries, but there has been no word on their condition since then.
Initially, both directions of the Crosstown between Ashley Avenue and Spring Street were closed due to the accident; however, shortly after 7 am, northbound lanes and one southbound lane reopened for traffic. According to police reports posted on Twitter at 10:11 am, all remaining lanes had reopened.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol; however, no charges have been filed yet regarding this matter.
